Deon Botha, Director

Deon serves as the Director of The Academic Development Center. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Associate. Deon also teaches Career and Life Planning and University Seminar classes. Prior to this position, he served as a Career and Academic Counselor and coordinated ACU's SOS Program. He received a degree in Theology from the Free State University in South Africa and his Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from ACU in August 2003. He joined the Office of Career and Academic Development in July, 2003 and became the Director of The Academic Development Center in the Fall of 2007.
Karen Witemeyer, University Testing Center Coordinator

Karen serves as the Coordinator of University Testing. She received a B.S. in Psychology from Abilene Christian in 1993 followed by an M.S. in School Psychology in 1995. She joined The Academic Development Center and the University Testing Center in June, 2003. She administers ACT, MAT, THEA, CLEP, placements tests, correspondence exams and oversees all testing activities during the university's Passport Sessions.
Sara Taylor, SOS Coordinator and Academic Counselor

Sara is a Career and Academic Counselor and also serves as the coordinator of the SOS Program, a referral system for struggling students. In the Fall, she teaches a University Seminar course for undeclared majors. She also is an adjunct professor for the Psychology Department. Her goal is to help students understand more about themselves: their personality and their God-given talents for use in their academic pursuits. Sara earned a B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Clinical Psychology from ACU. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. Sara joined The Academic Development Center in August of 2006.
Carla Riediger, Administrative Assistant
Carla serves as The Academic Development Center's Administrative Coordinator. She assists the office in all areas from taking SOS referrals to building incoming freshmen schedules. She came to ACU in May 2006 after being in the banking business for over 6 years.
