Several student-lead initiatives have added to campus sustainability:
- ACU Unplugged
The eleven resident halls compete for the greatest energy saving during a ten day period. Each residence hall’s energy usage is measured during the competition period and compared with the hall’s energy use in the previous fall. The hall with the greatest percentage reduction wins. In the process, students become more aware of smart energy usage. For more information, contact the coordinators at environment@acu.edu.
- Box-to-Bin
Each fall when students move into campus residence halls, they bring a tremendous amount of cardboard. The Box-to-Bin program redirects this cardboard to recycling bins and encourages new students to adopt green practices. For more information, contact the coordinators at environment@acu.edu.
- Recyclemania
When residence halls are being vacated in the Spring, Recyclemania gives students an opportunity to donate goods, swap tee-shirts and recycle paper and plastic. Recyclemania is completely student-run. For more information, contact the Year-End Committee in the Student Organizations office.
