ACU Recycling Program

The Solid Waste Services Division of the City of Abilene and Abilene Christian University entered into a recycling agreement in September 2005. The City of Abilene is subsidizing the effort in an attempt to divert material out of the waste stream and into the recycling stream.

Participation in the program is open to all members of the ACU community and is entirely voluntary, but a growing number of concerned individuals are involved in recycling.

If you're interested in recycling in your office:

1.  Call Nelda Gilbreth (674-2363) and request the number and type of containers you need. You          may request blue bags for paper, green containers for plastic and white cardboard boxes for           aluminum cans.

2.  Weekly, on Wednesday morning, a city truck will pick-up paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and      aluminum cans at three locations on campus:

     •    The North doors of the Administration Building from 8:00-8:30 am
     •    The loading dock of the Library from 8:30-9:00 am
     •    The loading dock of the Campus Store from 9:00-9:30 am

3.  Your responsibility is to bring the full bags (blue bag with paper, plastic bags of aluminum cans      and/or plastic bottles) and flattened cardboard to the locations on Wednesday at the proper          times for pick-up. Empty blue bags will be available from the driver. Housekeeping can supply
     plastic bags.
