Peer Mentor Job Description
Peer mentors are academically successful upperclassmen (or graduate students) who work with the faculty of the Learning Strategies course (UNIV 011) to provide educational guidance to freshmen students transitioning to ACU. Mentoring is accomplished in one – on –one 30 minute sessions over a 10 week period with a focus on developing goal setting and time management skills as well as implementing learning strategies. Weekly training sessions with the faculty provide peer mentors guidance while collaborating to implement the scope, sequence & evaluation of individualized instruction. The total time commitment for training & mentoring is approximately 5 to 7 hours each week. This role provides a terrific opportunity to work individually with students, gain valuable experience, and provide real support to students as they begin their college work.
