Abilene Christian University Press and Leafwood Publishers announce Books For Missions , a new initiative to supply books to mission fields around the world. With a combined list of 165 titles in print, these two publishers are leaders in supplying books for Churches of Christ and others of the Stone-Campbell heritage.
“Bible study books and other Christian works are vital tools in mission work around the world,” says Dr. Leonard Allen, Director of ACU Press/Leafwood Publishers. “We want to work with mission teams to supply the books they can use in equipping new Christians and training church leaders. We also seek to build up the libraries of Bible colleges and other training schools. With our broad range of books,” Allen added, “we can supply a wide spectrum of needs on the mission field, ranging from evangelistic tools and simple Bible study workbooks to in-depth works of Bible scholarship, theology, and church history.”
In the Books for Missions program, missionaries will receive a packet containing catalogs, order forms, and donor contact information forms. They will select the books and quantities that will serve their needs in the mission field, and then submit that order form to the Press, along with any names and contact information for the donors that might be able to help pay for their order. They may also consult with our staff about titles. Missionaries will be asked to pay whatever amount of the cost they are able, then the Press will seek to partner with the donors to cover the remaining discounted costs. (ACU Press/Leafwood Publishers is a non-profit organization that accepts tax-deductible contributions.)
Among Leafwood Publishers’ 55 titles are such well-known books as Pilgrim Heart: The Way of Jesus in Everyday Life , by Darryl Tippens; The Church That Flies by Tim Woodroof; The Body Broken: Embracing the Peace of Christ in a Fragmented Church , by Jack Reese; The Great Rescue: The Story of God’s Amazing Grace , by Edward Fudge; and Come to the Table: Revisioning the Lord’s Supper , by John Mark Hicks.
