The ACU Police Department is here to serve the needs of the campus community. The department consists of nine full-time police officers, six part-time public safety personnel and a full-time office staff. The department operates 24 hours a day with administrative offices open during normal business hours Monday through Friday.
Services include the following:
- 24/7 Police Patrols
- Night-time Shuttle Service
- Motorist Assists (Unlocks/Jumpstarts)
- Parking Management and Enforcement
- Criminal Offense Reports and Investigations
- Traffic Accident Investigations
- Crime Prevention and Awareness Presentations
All ACU Police Officers are licensed and certified as Texas Peace Officers by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE). They are official police officers with the same authority as municipal officers. In addition to ACU Police, the Abilene Police Department (APD) cooperates with us on concurrent jurisdiction of the campus. We maintain a close working relationship with APD, meeting regularly to stay aware and informed about local crimes or trends which may jointly affect Abilene and ACU. ACU Police provide twenty-four hour patrol of the campus and adjacent properties. ACU Police have the responsibility and duty to enforce all local, state and federal laws.
We appreciate the opportunity to serve our students and staff and welcome your comments or questions. Please call our office if we can be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Ellison
Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety
