Host a Purple & White Reception

Purple & White Receptions are designed to promote ACU recruiting efforts.  Prospective students and parents are invited to learn more about ACU and to meet other students interested in Abilene Christian.

As the host for a Purple & White Reception, you will provide a tremendous resource to ACU by helping ensure students from your area are learning about the distinct advantages of an ACU education.  Hosts for Purple & White Receptions are responsible for:

  • Location - usually the host's home.

  • Food - generally hors d'oeuvres, snacks, desserts, etc.

The ACU Admissions Office will be responsible for:

  • Mailing invitations to top sophomores, juniors and seniors in the area.

  • Calling and emailing invitees.

  • Receiving RSVPs from interested students.

  • Providing an admissions counselor to be present to help with activities.

  • Providing recruiting materials for prospective students.

  • Providing give-a-ways for prospective students - T-shirts, caps, beach towels and sometimes even a $500 scholarship!

  • Providing follow-up through emails and phone calls to students.

Most Purple & White Receptions are in the fall (September through November) and in the spring (March through May).  Last year, ACU alumni hosted Purple & White Receptions across Texas and in places like Atlanta, Denver, Tulsa and Nashville.  Typically, turnout for these events ranges from 20 prospective students in smaller cities to 75 in larger cities.

If you would like to host a Purple & White Reception in your hometown, please complete the volunteer sign-up form and it will be sent to the Alumni Relations Office.  An alumni outreach officer will contact you once your information is received.

Expected time commitment:  6 to 7 hours per reception
