THURSDAY, OCT. 23

6 p.m.   Track and Field Awards Banquet
Hillcrest Church of Christ
Honoring track and field athletes from the 2007-08 season.  Bob Fraley, director of track and field at Fresno State University and the founder of the Pole Vault Summit, will be the guest speaker.  Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased by calling Coach Don D. Hood at 325-674-2711

Teague Special Events Center
Honoring distinguished professional achievements of Journalism and Mass Communication alumni.  This year's honorees are: Kenny Wilson ('74), market president for Central and South Texas, Bank of America, San Antonio; Becky Sundling ('91), user experience design lead, Microsoft Corp., Beijing, China;  David Stotts ('96), senior editor, motion graphics, and host of "Drive Thru History" series, ColdWater Media, Richardson.

TICKETS

Individual tickets are $35 each.  Current JMC students attend free.  Supporters can sponsor a JMC student's attendance with a $35 gift, sponsor a table for $350 or become an event sponsor for $1000 or more. Opportunities to take a guided tour of campus and see the residence halls, explore academic programs, see state-of-the-art facilities, meet current students and faculty, get scholarship and financial aid information, enjoy lunch in the World Famous Bean, experience our exciting and engaging Christian atmosphere, and talk with admissions counselors about attending ACU.

8:30 a.m.    V.W. KELLEY HOMECOMING GOLF CLASSIC
Abilene Country Club, 4039 S. Treadaway

Join alumni, students, faculty and friends for some friendly Homecoming competition on the links at one of Abilene's favorite courses.  Tournament proceeds benefit the V.W. Kelley Scholarship.  Cost is $100 and includes green fees, cart, breakfast, lunch and give-a-ways.

Students and families will enjoy county-fair type food, rock 'n' roll music and fun for all ages, including large inflatables, face painting and much more.  Wristbands to play on all the inflatables are $3 per person.

The ACU Chemistry Club and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry present the annual Chemistry Circus featuring fire and ice, explosions and colored smoke.  Free admission.

Join in celebrating the induction of Michelle King ('92), Jerry Dyes ('64), Linda (Evans '94) Halpayne and Rex Lamberti ('88) into the 2008-09 Wildcats Sports Hall of Fame. Immediately following the Sports Hall of Fame induction, celebrate the 25-year reunion of the 1984 track and field team and the 35-year reunion of the 1973 national football championship team at the Lettermen's Reunion. (Reunion will begin at 8:45 p.m.)

On the lawn behind the Zona Luce Building

Student and alumni bands will alternately soothe, sway and rock the campus in short sets on dual stages. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the live music!  Purchase a T-shirt for $5.

 

8 - 11 p.m.    Physics Department Open House

Foster Science Building

Located on the roof of the Foster Science Building, the observatory will be open to all visitors, especially children. Physics laboratories will also be open for viewing.  In the event of overcast skies, please come to Room 353 for an informal reception and tour of the laboratories.


8 p.m.    HOMECOMING MUSICAL: All Shook Up

In a square little town in the middle of a square decade, a guitar playin' roustabout changes everything and kick-starts a hip-hoppin', lip-curlin' musical fantasy that will have you jumpin' out of your blue suede shoes!  Combining all-time favorite Elvis hits such as "Heartbreak Hotel," "Burning Love," "Jailhouse Rock," "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Don't Be Cruel," All Shook Up is a surefire run for rock 'n' roll lovers of all ages!
