Why Give to Endowment?
1. ACU’s endowment is a solid investment.
Even through the recent financial crisis and recession, ACU’s endowment saw a rapid recovery, outperforming the average endowment return over the past three years, as well as ACU’s benchmark investment portfolio consisting of the Standard & Poor 500 and Lehman Brothers stock.
Since 1990, ACU’s endowment has grown from about $50 million to nearly $300 million as of April 30, 2011, making it one of the top-performing university endowments in the nation. Its 10-year returns rank in the top 1 percent of all American university endowments.
2. ACU’s endowment will allow your gifts to change students’ lives for generations to come:
As shown in in the above graph, ACU’s endowment since June 1997 has received $98.6 million in gifts while distributing $128.6 million in grants and scholarships. Despite distributing more than it has received, the endowment has grown from $78.9 million to $295.3 million. This allows more and more money to be pushed into scholarships for years to come.
It also explains why ACU was named the 2009 Small Nonprofit Endowment of the Year by Foundation and Endowment Money Management magazine.
