Charlie & Peggy Marler Endowment
Doc.
For generations of ACU journalism students, that one word defines their experience – a shorthand for the animated debate, sage advice and multicolored critique stickers of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication’s most revered professor, Dr. Charlie Marler.
More than 1,000 students majored in a media-related field and graduated from ACU while he was a full-time faculty member. As an adviser he had a hand in the production of more than 1,200 issues of the Optimist. And he continues to personally build each and every model Gutenberg printing press awarded to outstanding JMC alumni during Homecoming.
If Doc was a mentor to you, if he helped shape your life and career, if he modeled for you what it meant to be a Christian and a communicator, won’t you consider honoring him today with a gift to the Charlie and Peggy Marler Endowment?
Dr. Marler fought tirelessly to improve the technology on which students could practice their craft, and he’s set up the endowment as part of his estate plans to provide a continuing flow of money for technology, ensuring tomorrow’s JMC students have the best equipment as they train for their chosen professions.
We invite you to watch the videos to the right and prayerfully consider how you can honor the legacy of Doc.
