Honoring Royce and Pam MoneyFor 19 years, Dr. Royce Money and his wife, Pam, have stamped their mark on the lives of thousands of ACU students. His has been a remarkably student-centered administration, an example of a university president who has been much loved and admired by the student body.
ACU has been forever changed by their leadership. New and renovated campus facilities, strengthened academic programs and growth in endowment are a testament to the legacy the Moneys have left on campus.
Friends seeking to honor the Moneys for their transformative tenure as president and first lady have a number of ways to do so that would enhance the ability for students to receive the innovative, exceptional, Christ-centered education ACU offers:
Royce and Pam Money Endowment Fund for Excellence in Education
With a goal of $1.9 million – a reference to Dr. Money’s nearly two decades in office – the Royce and Pam Money Fund for Excellence in Education would provide scholarships for top-ranking students to attend ACU and help fund key vision initiatives, enabling ACU to become the premier university for Christ-centered global leaders by 2020.
The fund would serve all students on campus, enhancing the mission of ACU beyond any single building or program and maintaining the Moneys’ legacy for decades more.
Student Recreation and Wellness Center
This $21 million expansion and renovation of the current Health and Physical Education Center will be named for the Moneys and feature areas to recognize those who honor them through their gifts. The 113,000-square-foot building will feature new weight rooms and gyms, a second swimming pool for recreational use, aerobics facilities and a climbing wall, as well as offices and exam rooms for the Student Clinic and Counseling Center.
Education endowment honoring Pam Money
In recognition of her lifelong commitment to education, those wishing to honor Pam for her service to the university could do so by establishing an endowment fund to benefit the College of Education and Human Services. The funds from the endowment would provide student scholarships and support for programs unique to the college.
The Exceptional Fund, which provides critical funds each year for ACU’s operating budget, is an ideal vehicle to honor the Moneys, who are monthly donors to the fund. Exceptional Fund dollars underwrite everything from university scholarships to campus enhancements – things that affect all ACU students.
After serving 19 years as the president of Abilene Christian University, Dr. Royce Money will transition to his new role as chancellor on June 1, 2010. This film, highlighting Dr. Money's service and leadership, was shown at a series of celebrations across the country called "An Evening with Royce and Pam."
