Shay Ratliff grew up in Brownwood, Texas, and graduated from Brownwood High School in 2000. Growing up, Shay had many connections to Abilene Christian University. His grandparents attended ACU in the ‘50s, and his parents attended ACU in the ‘70s, making Shay a third-generation Wildcat.
As a football standout, Shay originally had his mind set on attending Texas A&M University. However, after much prayer and discussion with other ACU alumni, he decided that ACU would be the best fit for him.
While at ACU, Shay played football and ran track, leading the Wildcat athletics teams to multiple victories.
“My experience at ACU was life-changing,” said Shay. “My professors were engaged in my life, which kept me accountable on the field, in my studies, and in my spiritual walk with Jesus Christ. The relationships I developed and the networking opportunities I had because of my experience at ACU are the primary reasons I found success in the corporate world while keeping my values intact.”
After years of working in the corporate world, Shay returned to his alma mater as an admissions counselor with unfathomable passion for the university that, in his own words, has “helped shape and mold me into the husband, father and friend I am today.”
