Theatre

Real-World Experience
- The department produces seven mainstage shows each year, offering students opportunities to act, direct, design, sing, dance, write, stage manage, dramaturg -- even manage a real box office.
- Students work and perform in the new state-of-the-art Williams Performing Arts Center.
Exceptional Degrees
- Students are prepared for stage or film work, university or secondary teaching, arts management, design and technical construction, theatre ministry, playwriting and more.
- ACU students have been accepted to Yale University, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, University of Missouri and Stanislavski Summer School at Harvard University, to name a few.
- ACU-trained theatre artists have performed in national tours (42nd Street; Phantom of the Opera; and Titanic, The Musical; etc.), earned their Equity and SAG cards, served as production designer for major Hollywood movies (Antwone Fisher, etc.), founded their own theatre companies and more.
Faculty Who Make the Difference
- Enjoy a low teacher:student ratio. Auditions are required, with only 12 freshmen admitted each fall.
- Faculty members regularly attend workshops including
Alexander Technique, Texas Educational Theatre
Association, Southeast Theatre Conference and other
unified auditions, Christians in Theatre Arts conferences,
and United States Institute for Theatre Technology.
