Real-World Experience

  • A public service internship program allows students to work in the public sector part time while receiving up to 6 hours of academic credit.
  • Five ACU political science majors have been honored as Fellows for the Center for the Study of the Presidency in Washington, D.C.

Exceptional Degrees

  • Certificates in international relations and comparative politics are available.
  • The Jack Pope Fellows Program, established in honor of alumnus Jack Pope, former Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, awards scholarships to outstanding ACU students who intend to pursue a career in public service.
  • Students are prepared for careers in government service, communication, journalism, law, secondary and university teaching, public policy and business.
  • Graduate study is common among ACU graduates, at institutions such as Texas A&M University's Bush School of Government and Public Service, Pepperdine University, Baylor University, The University of Texas at Austin and Harvard Law School.
  • Recent grads and distinguished alumni are leaders in their fields as public officials, speech writers, urban planners, attorneys, professors and business owners.

Faculty Who Make the Difference

  • All faculty in the department hold terminal degrees and have experience in politics, business leadership, public service and international relations.
  • Faculty members are active in the American Political
    Science Association and the International Studies
    Association.
