Real-World Experience
- ACU integrates experiential learning, faith, and high academics in Body & Soul for pre-med/pre-dental majors. This program includes job-shadowing with local Christian physicians and dentists, medical missions, and medical school readiness workshops such as mock-interviews and MCAT prep courses.
- Off-campus summer or semester-long study and research opportunities are available around the world.
- A fast-track Bachelor of Science degree is available for students looking to start medical or dental school sooner. Students receive their bachelor's degree after completing three years of courses at ACU, combined with completing one year at a recognized professional school.
Exceptional Degrees
- Students are prepared for careers in lab and field research, biological sciences, pharmaceutical and scientific sales, teaching and healthcare.
- One-hundred percent of biology graduates who apply are accepted to graduate school, and 80 percent who apply to medical or dental school are accepted, which is twice the national average.
- ACU biology graduates have attended graduate school at Tufts University, Texas Tech University, Vanderbilt University, University of Arkansas, Texas A&M University and many more. More than 50 percent go on to obtain their doctorates, which has led to ACU ranking 64th of 914 schools in the number of students who go on to receive doctoral degrees.
Faculty who Make the Difference
- Biology faculty are members -- and often officers -- in organizations such as the American Society for Microbiology, the National Association of Advisors for Health Professions, National Association of Biology Teachers and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
- Professors in the department are academically and professionally acclaimed, highly regarded within their specialties, receive numerous research grants, and produce respected research.
