Dr. Michelle Morris serves as ACU's vice president of university relations, overseeing admissions, creative services, public relations, sports information, university events and alumni relations. She returned to ACU in August 1997 after working from 1988-92 as director of news and information and as associate editor of ACU Today.
Morris earned her B.A. in journalism from ACU (1987), her M.A. in journalism (1995), and her Ed.D. in higher education administration from Texas Tech University (2003). She was named the Wendell H. Bedichek Award recipient as outstanding journalist (1984-85). At ACU, she has earned honors from the American Advertising Federation and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), including a first-place CASE award for special development events. In 1999, she was a national finalist in film/videotape for a Telly Award and The Communicator Awards.
Morris previously served as special publications manager and graphic design manager for the Abilene Reporter-News. In the mid-1980s, she worked as the newspaper's health and education reporter, winning a first-place Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Award for feature writing, among other honors.
Before returning to Abilene in August 1996, Morris owned a public relations and advertising firm, The Morris Agency, in Morristown, Tenn., handling more than 100 clients. She also served as the first marketing coordinator for Condley and Company, CPAs, in Abilene.
Morris has written articles for numerous magazines and coauthored a book on spiritual fathering with Dr. Michael O'Donnell titled Heart of the Warrior.
She is married to Ric, and they have two daughters, Sara and Corinne.
