Steve ButmanSteve Butman is an Abilene freelance photographer specializing in commercial, aerial and industrial photography. He also photographs a limited number of weddings and has been featured in Southern Bride magazine.

A descendent of Big Country pioneers, Steve grew up on the family ranch in Mulberry Canyon, southwest of Abilene. His parents offered personal photography instruction, and with their encouragement he soon had a darkroom set up in the ranch house.

Steve pursued his interest, majoring in photography (with a minor in art) at Sam Houston Sate University in Huntsville. He received a B.S. degree in 1970. Additional photo study was done at the San Francisco Art Institute.

His studio at 1065 South First in Abilene is a 1920s-era building, now landscaped and restored with the ceilings intact. The neighbor next door is ACU's Dr. Lorraine Wilson, who with her husband, J, operates The Dive Spot, a scuba supply and training facility.

Steve has won numerous state and national awards, including Addy and CASE awards for ACU.

He is married to Wilma and they have a daughter, Elizabeth. His office number is 325-672-2341.
