A creative non-fiction book, "Wake Up Barbara!  And Help Me Find This Snake!" is a memoir about Watson’s years as a naïve and frightened newlywed missionary in the Dominican Republic as well as her friendship with ACU alumnus Sue Dodson. Dodson, class of '75 and Watson's best friend for ten years, was killed by a drunk driver in 1979.  The story chronicles the challenges and rewards of missionary life in Latin America as well as the differences between Watson's life as a young married woman in a foreign country and Dodson's life as a young single woman in her last year at ACU (then ACC) and her first years as a young teacher.
