Danger in the Summer of '51

Danger in the Summer of '51
by JERRY BOB GREER ('60)

This one is just for fun.  A memory filled, nostalgic return to small town life in the 1950s, this is a combination Tom Sawyer and Hardy Boys adventure and mystery story.  These tales started out being true, but the author takes the liberty of stretching the truth and spinning a tale that is filled with suspense and adventure woven among actual events that transpired during the summer of 1951.  With the main character's own version of a Huck Finn sidekick, the two boys go from one money making scheme to another and end up helping capture some dangerous dope peddlers in the dramatic conclusion.

by JERRY BOB GREER ('60)

Originally as a class assignment in one of Dr. Heber Taylor's journalism classes in 1960, this is a true-to-life account of the life of Si Bradford of Strawn, Ranger and Eastland County, Texas.  Personal interviews were conducted with Ben Bradford, the son of Si Bradford and Constable of Strawn, Texas, in 1960.  Si Bradford's colorful career climaxed with his involvement with the capture of the infamous Santa Clause Bank Robbers of Cisco, Texas, in 1929.
