Who qualifies for the Upward Bound Program?

Students must :
  • Be a citizen of the United States or permanent resident.
  • Be enrolled in Abilene or Cooper High School.

  • Be currently in the 9th or 10th grade.
  • Be in need of academic assistance to ensure entrance into and success in college (as determined by the Upward Bound program).

  • Be a potential first-generation college bound student
    (neither parent having obtained a four-year college degree).

  • Be economically disadvantaged (as determined by U.S. Department of Education income guidelines).
  • Be willing to make a commitment to complete high school and have the potential for success in college.
  • Be willing to participate in the program for the remainder of their high school career (two to three years) and to enroll in a post secondary education program immediately upon graduating from high school.

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!  


Upward Bound is currently accepting applications from 9th and 10th grade students attending Abilene and Cooper High Schools.           For priority consideration, applications should be submitted by October 22. However, we will continue to accept applications through out the year.  Applications are available in the counselors' office on each school campus or online.  For more information, please call 674-2448 or 674-2514.
