Our History

Educational Talent Search (ETS) is one of eight TRIO programs authorized by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 in response to President Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty (www.ed.gov/HEP/TRIO). Over 1,200 colleges, universities, community colleges and agencies in America now offer TRIO Programs. There are more than 475 ETS programs in the U.S. serving more than 389,000 students.

Each year ACU’s Educational Talent Search program serves approximately 650 students in the Abilene Independent School District. Since our founding in 2002, we have served over 1800 students.
