Experience:

Academic and personal counseling and coaching with ACU students in Alpha Academic Services began for me in 1990 and has expanded into some private practice, consulting, training, teaching and team building as I grow and adapt with the students and the community beyond. For 18 months I also served as interim program director as Dr. Bradshaw finished her PH.D. program, 1992-1994. Beyond counseling skills, directorship required Federal and University program design and development along with managing staff development and services delivered to students. Childhood family mission experience along with language, anthropology, sociology and intercultural studies and adult short term mission experiences on several continents have expanded my flexibility to enjoy learning with individuals from many backgrounds. Other work experience includes teaching elementary school, teaching special needs students, floral design, sewing and costume design and production.

Beyond professional experience, always discovering and living who I am and am becoming as God's person in community and family, as a wife, a mother of four, and grandmother of five continues to keep me "learning" in every level of life's "experiences."

Overview:

Coaching and/or counseling students qualified for this program, to "learn to learn" in all their most effective ways to achieve academic success, energizes most of my activity in Alpha. As Counselor for Alpha Academic Services, I coordinate with Dr. Bradshaw, director, and the Tutoring and Disability Coordinators and student tutors to plan and deliver individualized personal and academic skills development, coaching and/or counseling to each of our students engaging university life. As a student recognizes and uses his/her gifts and skills beyond needing our assistance. I'm delighted to celebrate that independence and open time and energy to empower another student to "learn to learn."
