Experience: |
I have worked in many capacities with students who have special needs since high school. After graduating from ACU, I spent two years in Santiago, Chile ministering to families. Part of my ministry included teaching orphaned boys to read in Spanish, as well as teaching adult Christians with learning disabilities to read the Bible. Upon returning to the states, I then pursued my career in education by teaching in a private school for children with learning differences in Abilene, Tx. for 14 years. Currently, I am the Disability Services Coordinator for ACU. |

As Disability Services Coordinator, my primary job is to assist in securing accommodations for students who are eligible for special services. My responsibilites include testing accommodations, securing notetakers, sign language interpreters, assistive technology for the hearing and visually impaired, and any other assistance above and beyond the "traditional" college setting. I am also the tutor coordinator for the study skills area for ACU's Student Support Services. |
