ACU in Oxford is a program specifically designed to encompass the mission of Abilene Christian University - Educating Students for Christian Service and Leadership Throughout the World, in a unique way.  While in Oxford students will:

  • Be challenged and inspired by the historically rich academic tradition of the "City of Dreaming Spires."

  • Deepen their faith as they reach out to the community in service-learning opportunities.

  • Enjoy building life-long relationships with students and faculty.

  • Travel and experience the beauty of different cultures.

  • Study and experience the British and European contributions to the world.

  • And so much more!

While living in the historic, university city of  Oxford, England qualified students will enroll for 16 credit hours in Spring/Fall semester.  Short-courses, Summer I and Summer II hours are also offered in core and major disciplines.

Accommodations:

Students will live in one of two remodeled Victorian houses in fashionable North Oxford, approximately a 15-minute walk from the city center (five minutes by bus).

Each house consists of four floors each of which is comprised of student rooms (one to three students per room), bath and fully-equipped kitchen. There are local shops and first-rate market in the city center. Students are encouraged to do their own cooking, but Oxford includes a variety of eating places. It is estimated that a reasonable combination of eating in-and-out will cost approximately $1,200  per semester.  ACU faculty and staff will live in the houses throughout the semester.

The Program Fee may be put on a student's bill along with the tuition and fees. For specific amounts regarding program fees, please come by ore phone a study abroad representative.

Tuition: Tuition costs are the same as that of ACU for the amount of hours taken.

Food:  Students should prepare for costs averaging about $15.00 per day.  HOWEVER, if students choose to buy groceries and cook in the facility, they can do so to save money.  Students may choose to utilize a cafeteria at St. Hughes College for part of the semester during the Fall or Spring semesters. Summer sessions may also use the kitchen facilities in the ACU houses, but may not use the St. Hughs cafeteria during those semesters.

Independent Travel Money:  Students will typically spend from $100.00 - $300.00 per weekend (Friday - Sunday).  However, students may spend more depending on their destination and  whether or not the student flies or takes a bus to destinations.  This is based on past students average spending.

Text Books and Fees:  Typically this cost is approximately $350.00 -400.00 for a Fall or Spring Semester. Short courses vary according to the credit hours taken.  For short courses contact the faculty attending.
