ACU in Latin AmericaStudying abroad in Uruguay will challenge you to experience a unique blend of European and South American cultures.
While in Latin America you will:
- Deepen your faith as you reach out to the community in service-learning opportunities.
- Greatly improve your Spanish language skills through cultural experiences.
- Build life-long relationships with other students and faculty.
- Travel and experience the beauty of several Latin American cultures.
- And so much more!
The program offers a variety of liberal arts courses in the fall and spring semesters. Every student must enroll in 15 credit hours including at least 3 hours of Spanish.
Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, is a city of nearly 1.5 million people and offers a safe environment with relatively low crime rates and an efficient public transportation system.
Casa ACU is located three blocks from the major international bus station Tres Cruces, which provides inexpensive transportation to major metropolitan areas throughout South America.
You will also experience Montevideo's rich cultural heritage, which includes a newly renovated performing arts center for opera, symphonies, theater and numerous museums.
You will live in Casa ACU, a villa-like structure adjacent to the El Chána Church of Christ building. Casa ACU includes dorm-style rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, study/computer room, exercise room and two faculty apartments. Wireless internet is available throughout Casa ACU.
