Students to Present Poster at 2014 BPD Annual Conference

The School of Social Work would like to congratulate Karli Southward and Kylee Craggett on the acceptance of their poster presentation entitled “Increasing School Attendance Through Parent Motivation” at the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors (BPD) Annual Conference in Louisville, KY. The BPD Annual Conference annually hosts an undergraduate poster competition around a social work theme or concept.

Karli and Kylee’s research began as extension of an assignment for an undergraduate social work class and is under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Baldridge. After conducting a community assessment at a Head Start program through AISD and collecting data, the girls created an incentive-based intervention program to increase student attendance. This intervention started in January 2014.

The BPD Annual Conference will take place on March 19-23, 2014 in Louisville, KY. To learn more about this conference and the poster competition, please visit www.bpdonline.org.
