Innovation Leaders Attend ACU's ConnectEd Summit

On Feb. 26-27, ACU hosted the ConnectEd Summit, the first collaborative workshop to focus on integrating iPhone and iPod Touch devices into coordinated mobile learning programs at educational institutions. Participating faculty, information technology professionals, developers and administrators came from 62 institutions, representing 30 states and seven countries. Eight workshop tracks incorporated such areas as teaching with podcasts and media objects, research and assessment, infrastructure and networking, logistics and deployment, and mobile learning pedagogy.

Featured speakers included Dr. Eric Mazur, Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics, Harvard University; Dr. Stephen Molyneux, Apple Distinguished Educator; Jason Ediger, director of iTunes U and mobile learning, Apple Inc; and John Regan, vice president, Government and Education Group, AT&T. ACU faculty and stafff members serving as workshop facilitators included Dr. William Rankin, director of educational innovation and associate professor of English; Dr. Kyle Dickson, associate professor of English and director of the Digital Media Center; Dr. James Langford, director of Web integration and programming; Kevin Roberts, associate vice president of operations and interim chief information officer; Arthur Brant, director of network services; Dr. Scott Perkins, director of research and professor of psychology; Kay Reeves, director of technology support services; and Joshua Tooley, Helpdesk and Team 55 manager.
