Facilities & Resources

Lab

The School of Information Technology and Computing currently shares facilities with the College of Business Administration. We occupy parts of the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Mabee Business Building, though classrooms and faculty offices are found throughout the building. The entire building is a totally wireless environment.

Labs

The Mabee Business Building is home to five
state-of-the-art computer labs, with a total of 100 seats. One of the new labs is devoted principally to instruction in networks and security; another is primarily dedicated to digital entertainment technology.

Classrooms

All our classrooms and lecture halls are “Smart” facilities, equipped with Internet connections, ceiling-mounted video projectors, and other equipment that allow our instructors to present course material using a variety of instructional media.

Our facilities include a 135-seat lecture hall, an 85-seat lecture hall, and several other classrooms that will hold 50 or more students. We also have a modern, fully-equipped, 50-seat distance education classroom capable of transmitting and receiving live presentations.

Hardware

All of our lab computers are Dell Optiplex GX270 desktop machines. These machines run under the Windows operating system, and are loaded with the Microsoft Office 2007 product suite. Lab computers are refreshed every three years to keep technology current.

In addition, students are strongly encouraged to work closely with professors on special projects. Five SunBlade 2000 workstations, a Dell Precision 530 workstation, a Sun 450 Enterprise server, and other equipment are available for students to use in these activities.

Some faculty and students also choose to use Apple products, including both desktop and laptop Macintosh computers.

Applications Software

Students and faculty have access to some of the top software products available in the industry, including:

Lab machines are also loaded with a full suite of Microsoft Office products, as well as development software such as Microsoft Visual Basic, Visual C++, Visual C#, Visual Web Developer, and SQL Server.
