Auditing Courses
Students who wish to audit a course should see the chair
of the involved department the first day of class.
Course Load
The standard course load is 3 hours for a Maymester and 6
hours for each Summer term. Undergraduates may take 1
additional hour each term if their combined study and work
load permits. Graduate students must obtain permission from
the dean of the Graduate School (Administration Building,
Rom 204) to take the additional hour.
Credit by Exam
Students who wish to attempt credit by exam, or to
challenge a course in which they are enrolled, must take the
exam on the first day of a short course or during the first
two days of a Summer or Maymester term to receive a 100
percent tuition refund.
Credit/No-credit Option
Students with a least 30 semester hours of credit and a
GPA of at least 2.0 may take electives outside their major
department for a credit/no-credit grade. For details and
forms, go to the Registrar's office (Administration
Building, Room 207) after enrollment. This option may only
be selected during the first day of Maymester or the first
two days of a Summer term.

Pass/Fail Option
Students may take Exercise Science activity courses
pass/fail except for EXSC 100. Any students who wish to do
so must complete a petition in the Registrar's office within
the first day of Maymester or the first two days of a Summer
term.
Repeating Courses
If a student makes a low grade in an ACU course and
chooses to repeat the course at ACU, only the more current
grade will be counted in the student's GPA at ACU. The
student must specify that the course is a repeat course at
the time of registration. For graduate-level courses and
undergraduate courses taken after the bachelor's degree has
been awarded, both grades are counted. Transfer credit does
not affect GPA at ACU.
Short Courses
Short courses are defined as classes whose duration is
less than a traditional summer session. Students who
register for a "short course" should contact the instructor
well before the first day for a syllabus, information about
advance reading assignments, and any other special
instructions. Short courses also generally require a
post-course assignment.
Housing
Maymester students who wish to live on campus should
apply through the Housing office in McKinzie Hall, ACU Box
29004. Summer I and II students will be housed in University
Park Apartments. Call 738-4300 for information.
