Math-Science and Cullen Guidelines
The Math-Science and Cullen funds were established to provide a source of internal research support for any qualified faculty member at Abilene Christian University. Each fund has enjoyed a long history at the university, enabling several hundred research studies, performances, and projects to be completed over the years spanning this program. Math-Science funds (applied to agriculture and environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, computer science, math, and physics) originate from limited endowment sources and contributed sources, such as gifts from individuals, restricted funds, and university-budgeted funds. Cullen funds (applied to those faculty and departments not included in the Math-Science group) are generated by an endowment from the Cullen Foundation. Each year, the Research Council considers the proposals submitted by the faculty and approves those judged best according to established criteria. The financial resources available within a given fiscal year determine the number of grants awarded. Members of the Research Council are appointed from within the university from those who have a broad understanding of research and who represent the different areas of study within the university scholarly community.
