Mission Statement

To provide library resources and services that support and enrich the curriculum as the university educates its students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world.

In pursuit of its mission the library's goals are:

  1. To develop, maintain and provide access to a collection of materials in all appropriate formats (print, electronic, audio-vidual, microform, etc.) that will:
    1. provide support for all disciplines offered in the university curriculum
    2. be accessible to all students regardless of their physical location or their physical handicaps.
    3. incorporate appropriate new formats, technologies, and means of access.
    4. offer opportunities for recreation and cultural enrichment
  2. To collect, preserve and provide access to the archival documents of the university, of the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement and of other specialized collections serving the research needs of our users.
  3. To teach information literacy, including the ethical use of intellectual property, throughout the ACU community.
  4. To maintain professional ideals of intellectual freedom.
  5. To have an appropriately sized staff which is well trained, helpful, and efficient and which exhibits a Christian spirit in serving patrons.
  6. To provide an attractive, appropriately-sized facility that is well-arranged and accessible to all patrons regardless of their physical handicaps.
  7. To provide services that match the needs of patrons and that are current with the best practices in our profession.
