Friends of ACU Library

The Friends of ACU Library (FACUL) was organized in 1966 and has served since that date as a strong, effective support group working to enhance the library.  Fund raising through collection of dues, mail campaigns, and an annual used religious book sale are important ways the Friends help the library.  The money has been used to purchase equipment and materials that would otherwise be beyond the reach of the library.  Three major bibliographic series, the Early American Imprints in microtext, support for travel to library conferences, and a new reader/printer for microforms are among the gifts FACUL has presented to the library.

In addition to gifts originating within the membership, FACUL has served to attract gifts to the library from other sources as well.  Both monetary gifts and gifts of collections have come to the library as the result of the Friends' influence.  Fulfilling another of its purposes, FACUL sponsors programs ranging from scholarly lectures to student-produced plays to galas celebrating music, art and literature.  These programs have strengthened the library's position as a cultural center for the entire community.  Each year during the ACU Lectureship, FACUL holds its annual dinner meeting and hears from one of the outstanding speakers in the brotherhood.  Another Friends' activity includes an award given annually at Homecoming to the "Friend of the Year."  Finally, many members of FACUL serve as volunteers for the library, using their talents in various ways to serve the needs of the library and its patrons.  The wide range of programs and activities sponsored by FACUL assure that all persons interested in supporting the ACU Library can find a way to participate with other lovers of books and learning.
