Spanish courses taken in the Department of Language and Literature can be used to satisfy the foreign language requirements of Bachelor of Arts degrees at ACU. In addition, the ACU Department of Language and Literature offers the B.A. degree in Spanish for students wishing to attain fluency in the Spanish language, and the minor in Spanish for those wishing to use Spanish proficiency to supplement their future career in another field.
ACU Spanish majors acquire language and cultural proficiency through in-depth study of language structures, cultural competency, literary knowledge and enhanced communicative skills. Language becomes the medium of multi-disciplinary learning and thus prepares students to engage a variety of professions and careers: business, government service, Peace Corps, mission work, social professions, etc. Students who plan to pursue graduate studies receive a solid preparation in literary genre, eras, and interpretation, as well as culture studies (history, the arts and everyday life).
