To earn Departmental Honors or complete University Honors, you must complete 3 semester hours of Honors Colloquia plus 9 honors-enhanced hours in a major field. The 9 hours in the major is usually two honors contracts in advanced courses plus a Capstone Project. The "9 hours" is nominal since some departments prefer noncredit options.
Plan your Capstone Project a year ahead. It must be approved on the basis of a prospectus, must result in a product and must be overseen by a three-person advisory committee (usually professors in your field but this can vary). See the Honors office for prospectus forms. For May and August graduates, the prospectus is due by Fall Break. For December graduates, it is due before the preceding Spring Break.

For the Bachelor of Applied Studies or interdisciplinary degrees, click the departments involved, then consult your advisor. The Honors Program director will help your advisor and the department heads to customize your honors work to fit your career goals. Likewise, see the Honors office for advice on earning Honors distinction in two majors or in two degrees.
