Pictures from the conference will be posted in a few days. There were 250 attendees, many splendid posters and presentations (including winners of the Boe Awards), a fine spring evening at Buffalo Gap Historic Village, terrific Brazilian and West African drumming as Friday night's entertainment, a great motivational speech by Dr. Jon Weidanz on biotech entrepreneurship, and a standing ovation for our climactic speaker, Pulitzer-winning photojournalist David Leeson at Saturday night's dinner.

Our spring regional conference always emphasizes student presentations and the region-as-text.

The windmill that is part of the Great Plains Honors Council logo is a distinctive feature of our six-state region. It represents cooperation with the environment – the bringing to light of hidden resources – ingenuity – perseverance – the willingness to catch inspiration from every direction. |
