Honors Program Online Application

If you are unsure whether you meet the Honors requirements, then please see our Admissions Requirements Page. The form below allows you to show your qualifications on the four admission criteria--(1) ACT or SAT, (2) grades or class rank, (3) resume, and (4) Honors Application Essay. If you are applying for a Presidential Scholarship, just say so in items 19 and 20 below, and we will use the resume and essay from your Presidential application. You do not need to send duplicate copies to Honors.

When you're ready to write the Honors Application Essay, see instructions. (Instructions for the Presidential Scholar essay are included with the Presidential application.) Any time you have questions, phone us at (325) 674-2728 or email honors@acu.edu.

The HP staff will check your grades (and scores if you are entering as a first-year student) and route your resume and Application Essay to a professor for evaluation. We will let you know about your acceptance by e-mail. If you need to be notified in some other way, please tell us in the Comments box.

Resume: There is no preferred format. We are interested to know such things as school activities, awards, foreign travel, church involvement, research or creative activities, community service, and mentoring and leadership.  No one fills every category. Just show us that you're active, aware, curious, a self-starter.

DEADLINES: We recommend that new students apply to the Honors Program by March 8 for the fall semester. Applying by this date allows the advisors to build your class schedule before certain classes fill up. The final deadline is July 15. An HP application is not complete till we receive this form (including the resume) and the applicant's Honors Application Essay.

Continuing students (already at ACU) may apply any time if they fully intend to do honors coursework. We don't accept applications from students who only want the Early Registration privilege.

Caveats for entering students:

  • You are not eligible to register for honors courses until we confirm your admission into the HP. You must send us this HP Application, including the resume, and an Application Essay. Only after we read the resume and essay and check your scores and grades are you officially admitted. Only then can your request for an Honors course schedule be processed.

  • Corollary: You are not in the HP simply because you indicated it in your Passport (orientation session) application. Honors admission is separate.
