Presidential Scholarship

The Presidential Scholar Awards are intended to recruit campus leaders and bring out their best influence. It seeks students "who exhibit commitment to the highest standards of academic success, service, leadership and character." The selection process is calculated to find students with the temperament, experience, intelligence and personal values to be servant leaders in a Christian campus culture. The conditions of the award are designed to maximize their influence.

Requirements for Presidential Scholar Awards

This is a brief guide to requirements. Details are available from Ms. Smith at the Honors College (contact information below). Direct all questions and petitions to her.

1. Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA, at least 3.5 for full-tuition Presidential awards and at least 3.2 for half-tuition Presidential awards.

2. Make due progress toward graduation in nine long semesters and 144 hours.  Presidential Scholarships are limited to nine consecutive long semesters (fall semesters or spring semesters) OR your graduation, whichever comes first. The scholarship may be used for summer terms. 

3. Remain in good standing according to all ACU policies and regulations, including chapel attendance. 

4. Participate in the Honors College by completing four honors courses within your first year.

5. Live full-time in a campus residence hall during the first eight of your nine long semesters. This requirement applies to long semesters only (not summer or Maymester or between semesters).

6. Complete 15 hours of community service each long semester, documented through ACU's Volunteer and Service-Learning Center (VSLC).

7. Full-tuition Presidential Scholars only: Submit a new FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) every year. The FAFSA is available at the ACU Welcome Center and at www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
