The Ranch Complex Viewed from a Distance
Nestled in a small meadow near Edna Hill, Texas, the Lightning C Ranch emerges out of the afternoon
haze giving the casual observer a glimpse of what was once the center of the rodeo universe, at least for
Gene Autry and his partner, Everett Colborn. The buildings show signs of almost three quarters of a
century of service, but the old ranch still stands as a silent sentinel of the past glory it shared with the
men and women who rode the 8 seconds to glory.
