Period Room Unit

Period Rooms are re-creations of historic settings. They are one way to preserve the physical past when the restoration of an entire building is not feasible. The 1994 Abilene Christian University Public History Field School team (Under Construction) re- created three such period rooms. One room depicts a 1922 classroom typical of those found in a southern Colorado coal mining camp. The other two rooms depict a typical 1925 kitchen and a typical 1925 living room , as they could be found in a house in a southern Colorado mining camp.

Use these three period room exhibits for students to learn about the material culture in the 1920's and how miners families lived in the hills of southern Colorado.
