Copy Stand Unit

A copy stand is used to make photographs of existing photographs and create new negatives. Often photographs are available for copying that can not be obtained in any other way. Owners may allow copying of important or valued personal collections--items that would never be available as a gift or a loan. Copying makes sense in such cases.

The copy process is also important in generating new photographs of portions or pieces of a larger image. The need for such editing is often called for in museum exhibits, instructional presentations, publications, and classroom settings.

The macro lens can uncover small detail not visible to the eye. In such instances the copy process can illunimate significant historical detail for study or exhibition.
