Formation

In preparing students for the complex challenges of pluralistic society, graduates of this program will be theologically formed, missiologically aware, and interculturally competent.

Theologically Formed 
Graduates will integrate the biblical, historical and theological perspectives foundational for contemporary Christian practice. Students learn the core Christian theological doctrines and beliefs, philosophical reasons for the rationality of Christianity, the history of the church, and the witness of Scripture. In doing so, students learn the heart of Christian theology in order to be able to integrate it into their work and translate its importance into other cultural settings.

Missiologically Aware 
Graduates will demonstrate an understanding of the mission of God and their place within it as individuals and members of the global Church. Christians believe that God has a mission for the world and is working through individuals to bring that dream to the world. Students learn to discern God's call and to act on that discernment in concrete ways.

Interculturally Competent
Graduates will be able to live, work and communicate appropriately in a variety of cultural contexts. Engaging cultural differences is difficult. Utilizing the disciplines of communication theory, anthropology, and sociology, students learn how to both understand cultural Others and communicate effectively in intercultural contexts.
