Kent Smith has served as ACU’s Missionary Coordinator for North America since 1991 (Halbert Institute for Missions). Since 2004, he has also directed the Missionary Residency for North America (MRNA), the GST’s graduate internship in missional leadership. With Dr. Chris Flanders, he coordinates ACU’s Master of Arts in Global Service (MAGS) degree.
Dr. Smith’s research, teaching and writing interests center in the confluence of Christian spiritual formation and the lifestyle of missional communities. In particular he is engaged with exploring the nature of faithful Kingdom life in North America as the shifting global and urban landscape brings profound challenges and opportunities to the church in our time.
Along with teaching and the formation of missional teams, Kent travels extensively as a consultant, and as mentor and collaborator with former students. He holds professional memberships in the Society of Biblical Literature and the American Society of Missiology, is a consulting editor for Missio Dei Journal, and serves on the board of two non-profit organizations focused on North American missions.
Kent and his wife Karen have five children and seven grandchildren and make their home in Abilene. He can be reached by email at: email@example.com.
