GST Community Life
One of the GST's greatest strengths is the strong sense of community between students. In the tight-knit GST residential community, you have the opportunity to forge life-long friendships with students and faculty. Activities include mentoring groups, intramural sports competitions, weekly Graduate Chapel, monthly (free!) lunches with students from other graduate programs, barbecues, the annual Chili Cook-Off, holiday banquets, Graduate Students Association (GSA) events and many others. The challenge is finding enough time to take advantage of all the opportunities!
Graduate Chapel meets every Wednesday at 11 a.m., in the Chapel on the Hill in the Biblical Studies Building. Themes for chapel change from semester to semester. This is an opportunity for all ACU Graduate Students to meet together once a week for a time of worship in song, responsive reading, homily, and prayer. Additionally, GST students work with faculty to plan weekly chapel and often serve with faculty in worship. Check out the GST Vimeo page to listen to some of our recent chapel sermons.
Mentoring Groups participate in the mission of the GST to equip men and women for effective missional leadership for ministry in all its forms. Providing a place for deeper community, Mentoring Groups integrate curricular and co-curricular experiences in exploration of vocational identity. Theological reflection, communal discernment, and spiritual disciplines that sustain life in the mission of God are practiced together.
Graduate Students Association
The Graduate Students Association exists to contribute to the social, academic, and professional formation of graduate students on ACU's campus. The GSA holds a free monthly pizza luncheon as well as seasonal celebrations. The GSA also provides funds for graduate activities, hosts an annual interdepartmental research festival with financial prizes, and offers travel stipends for students to attend professional meetings and conferences.
