During the week, students participated in case studies, guided reflection, small group discussions, teaching sessions and sessions with business professionals. Mike Winegeart, assistant professor of marketing and director of COBA’s global programs, described the summit as a “spiritual boot camp” for students wanting to reach their leadership potential.
“At the summit students have uninterrupted time to focus on character, competence and calling,” said Winegeart. “The catalyst for these life-changing decisions is Christian CEOs who volunteer their time to mentor students at the summit.”
This year’s summit featured six ACU faculty members from COBA and four guest speakers. Guest speakers John Aden, CEO of Mac Tools, an automotive mechanic tools and equipment company, spoke on the topic “Leading an Organization.” Gary Skidmore, EVP of direct marketing company Harte-Hanks, spoke on the topic “Leading a Team;” Mike Haley, Focus on the Family, spoke on the topic “Leading to Change the World;” and Ginger Graham, CEO of Amylin Pharmaceuticals, spoke on the topic “Leading Self.”
Students said the combination of the speakers and environment at Frontier Ranch created a unique experience that helped them grow as leaders for the future.
