Choose From Five Majors

The College of Business Administration offers five undergraduate degrees in business, as well as a business minor. Additional technology-related majors are offered by the School of Information Technology and Computing.

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a 128-credit-hour professional degree. The minor in business allows undergraduate students completing a non-business degree to select 18 credit hours of business courses to supplement their primary area of study.

Deciding on a major can seem like an overwhelming decision to some students. Often, students wonder what types of careers each major will lead to. Our College of Business Professional Development Manager and our Academic Advisors, in conjunction with the ACU Career Center, can help students sort through the questions they may have about different career fields as well as guiding them toward internship opportunities to help students gain experience and knowledge while empowering them to make good career choices.

Majors in the Department of Accounting and Finance:

Accounting  

A degree in accounting produces diverse opportunities for good problem-solvers. Most of our graduates will start their careers in public accounting, which opens up opportunities in fields such as banking, Chief Financial Officers, controllers or accounting.

Financial Management  

A financial management degree combines financial accounting with an understanding of financial options available to business. Students who study financial management often start their careers in areas such as financial analysis for corporations, financial consultants, or credit analysts who are engaged in banking through officer development programs.

Majors in the Department of Management Sciences

Management  

The most flexible of the business majors, a management degree from ACU prepares a graduate to enter any organization, whether it be a Fortune 500 company, a non-profit, or a start-up business. Many of these students jump-start their careers through a management trainee program. The management degree offers concentrations in business leadership, human resource management, and entrepreneurship. Each management major must have at least one concentration.

Marketing  

A marketing degree focuses on the principles and strategies for business marketing. Students who graduate with a marketing degree have a variety of options in fields such as customer service, public relations/ marketing analysis, and sales with a wide range of organizations. Marketing majors may choose to add a concentration to their degree, selecting from one of the three management concentrations offered.

Information Systems  

An IS degree combines an understanding of business management with a basic understanding of computer programming, networking and database management. This combination of information systems and business understanding provides a variety of beginning career opportunities, including business intelligence analysis, information system analysis, system implementation consulting, and support management.
