Master of Accountancy (MAcc)

To receive a Master's of Accountancy a student will need to complete 30 hours of credit.  To see the specific classes, please see the catalog (see link below).  Or you may go to the graduate school's site (see link below) to see further detail of their requirements into the program.  You will be able to demonstrate excellence in the following degree objectives upon completion of the requirements:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of sources of accounting theory and how accounting theory influences accounting practice.

  • Demonstrate an ability to interpret and analyze financial statements.

  • Demonstrate an ability to analyze unstructured problems and to apply accounting measures in managerial decision-making.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of advanced principles of financial management and their relationship to accounting.

  • Understand advanced issues in auditing practice and current issues influencing public accounting.

  • Understand advanced financial accounting topics and demonstrate  skills for recording and reporting.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of advanced issues in tax practice and tax research.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of transaction analyses and reporting for governmental and not-for-profit entities.

  • Demonstrate competency in appropriate research methodologies for accounting.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of an appreciation for the relationship of business to other academic disciplines.
