Middle School (Grades 4-8)

Middle school is a time of transition. As a middle school teacher, you will help these "in-between" students begin to discover who they are in a safe place, while preparing them for academic and emotional success in high school.

The middle school teaching program prepares you to teach one of these subjects in grades 4-8:

Each of these degrees culminates in your taking the TeXeS state exam for certification in teaching grades 4-8. Supplemental Certificates in Education

Students interested in Special Education can certify in all levels (age 3 through grade 12), or a special education supplement can be added to any other certification. The ESL (English as a Second Language) supplement can be added to all middle school, high school and all-level certifications.

Students interested in teaching art, music, physical education, Spanish, or theatre arts at the middle school level can obtain all-level certification in one of these areas. Visit the All-Levels page for more information about these certifications.
