Why I’m a social work major
I am a social work major because I want to serve Christ with my whole life. Servanthood can come in a variety of forms, but I feel God has called me to tangibly help people who need it most and SHOW them the gospel. Just as Jesus fed the hungry and helped the poor, my desire is to bring the good news of Christ by meeting peoples’ needs.
On my social work classes
I love getting to hear about methods that work well for helping people. Learning about policy and ethics can be difficult sometimes, but it always encourages me to think of the future God has in mind for me. The material is applicable and engages students to nurture the desire they have to help people.
On my field experience
First-hand experiences have been the best ways to truly learn about this field. I learned more during my two month internship than I have learned all semester long. Experience with real people is probably the greatest and most rewarding thing I have ever done. The encouragement and affirmation that comes from such experiences is amazing.
