Admission to the School of Social Work
Declaring social work as your major does not ensure admission to the social work program. You must apply for and be granted admission to the social work program before taking most upper-division courses.
To apply, download and fill out the following forms and bring them by our office or mail them to ACU Box 27866:
Admission requirements:
- Junior standing (60 credit hours).
- Completion of admission forms designated by the department.
- Submission of an autobiographical sketch that includes the student’s personal experiences, expectations and self evaluation relative to social work.
- Satisfactory completion of Introduction to Social Welfare (SOCW 230), Fundamental Skills of Relating (SOCW 250) and Micro/Mezzo Behavior Theory (SOCW 327) or Macro Behavior Theory (SOCW 328).
- Approval for admission by program faculty after an interview and consideration of various criteria.
