Dr. Ammons is a professor and the director of the school. Previously, he has been a professor at the University Of Georgia and a visiting professor at the University of Buenos Aires. He has published in five of the top ten journals in social work and has been a contributing editor to several
publications, including Families in Society and Research on Social Work Practice. His current
interests are international social work education, globalization and social justice and evidence-
based practice. While at the University of Georgia he received university-wide recognition of
superior teaching four times and was an inaugural member of the Teaching Academy, the highest
teaching honor awarded by the university. He is a member of The Council on Social Work
Education, Golden Key and Phi Mu honorary societies.
